FONDACA carried out the 2009 - 2011 Civil Society Index (CSI) project, promoted and coordinated by the international NGO CIVICUS - World Alliance for Citizen Participation. The aim of the Italian side of the project was the gathering of information on, and the evaluation of, the state of Italian civil society, with particular reference to the structure of civil society organizations, the external social, political, legal and economic context, the promotion and protection of values by citizens and the impact of civic organizations on Italian society. The foundation carried out the new edition of Italian Civil Society Index project in cooperation with Cittadinanzattiva movement. The second edition of the project enabled the Italian civil society and its stakeholder to detect and assess changes occurred since the first edition, regarding the 2005-2007 situation.

AC Committee - Civil Society Index. On April 2009, an Advisory Committee was created in order to support the second edition of the research on Italian civil society. The Advisory Commettee was gathered two times. During the meeting the participants were invited to discussed about the objectives, the steps and the methodology of the research and about some aspects of the Italian civil society. The meeting were attended by the following experts: Mariano Bottaccio - CNCA, Costanza Fanelli - Casa Internazionale delle donne, Diego Galli - Radio Radicale, Toni Mira - Avvenire, Maddalena Pelagalli - CNAMC, Marina Porro - UGL ed Elena Tropeano - Formez.
