The final seminar "Civic evaluation and Urban Quality: participatory analysis of the experimental project" will be held on July 5th in Rome. The seminar will involve the public administrations concerned in the project, the focus groups involved in the project and experts on the topic. On March 19th Lamezia Termes' Town Hall hosted a regional training meeting for the three Calabrese provinces (Lamezia Terme, Vibo Valentia and Reggio Calabria) that were taking part in the experimental project of Civic Evaluation proposed by the Department for Public Administration, in collaboration with Active Citizenship and FONDACA.
Lucia Mazzuca participated in the meeting, the main aim of which was to present the objectives of and the ways to carry out the experimental activities to the civic and administrative staff who are reported to in each province. She will follow the subsequent phases in the city of Lamezia.

CIVIC RESOURCES FOR GOVERNANCE - The mayors: sheriffs or leading citizens?

The conference entitled "The mayors: sheriffs or leading citizens", organized by the Roma Nuovo Secolo Association and Cittadinanzattiva Lazio Movement, was held on 3rd December 2009 at the Waldensian Community in Rome. The seminar was an occasion to discuss the tools and the guidelines which the municipalities use to measure local safety as determined by the 2008 decree law on this issue. The speakers at the seminar were Giuseppe Scaramuzza, Maurizio Fiasco, Pio Marconi, Carlo Troilo, Alberto Benzoni and Roberto Ranucci who presented the research report on "Civic resources for urban safety: a survey on the role of active citizenship organizations" that FONDACA carried out in March 2009 and that was commissioned by the Municipality of Genova. On March 11th, in Rome, FONDACA took part in a meeting with CITTALIA Foundation during which there was a reciprocal exchange of information regarding ongoing programs and activities. CITTALIA Foundation was represented by its General Secretary Pierciro Galeoni and Raffaela Milano, while Giovanni Moro, Monica Ruffa, Roberto Ranucci and Lucia Mazzuca participated on behalf of FONDACA.

On March 1st, in Vicenza, Giovanni Moro met Alessandra Moretti, vice-mayor with decentralization and participation responsibilities, and Tommaso Ruggeri, councillor of productive activities. The topic of the meeting was the discussion of participative experiences recently promoted by the administration.

On May 27th, in Rome, on the occasion of the partner meeting for the "Active citizenship Mentoring in Europe" program organised by Active Citizenship Network, FONDACA presented the project for the realisation of an Internet portal devoted to the monitoring and evaluating of the state of implementation of rights to active citizenship organisations in the 27 EU member States, that will be linked to the Portal through their own national sites, as well as to the gathering and spreading of good civic practises and to reflecting on the process of construction of EU.

The presentation of the book "Citizens in Europe. The role of citizenship in the European democratic experiment" written by Giovanni Moro will be held on 28th May at the Health Expo of Bologna's Fair. Main speakers will be Leonardo Altieri, Stefano Bonaga, Serse Soverini e Paolo Tamburini. Franco Malagrinò, by Cittadinanzattiva Emilia- Romagna, will moderate the discussion. The presentation will be start at 3.00 p.m. at Sala Vivace, Expo Sanità - Bologna's Fier.

CITIZEN IN EUROPE - How much do citizens count in Europe?

On 27th April the seminar "How much do citizens count in Europe?" will take place at the Institute of International Politics Studies' headquarters in Milan. During the meeting the themes of Giovanni Moro's most recent publication, Citizens in Europe. Civic Activism and the Community Democratic Experiment will be presented and discussed. Besides the author, participants include: Marina Calloni of Bicocca University of Milan, Carlo Corazza of EU Representation in Milan and Chiara Lucchin of Caritas Ambrosiana association – Europe Office. FONDACA is currently involved in the creation of a web site in collaboration with Active Citizenship Network. This web site will be an instrument through which the state of the rights of European active citizens in the European Union member States, as stated in the  European Charter of Active Citizenship, can be monitored and evaluated.
