Training on Active Citizenship at “Roma Tre” University. Starting in October, Monica Ruffa, FONDACA’s Manager for advanced training on active citizenship, is holding a cycle of lessons on the issue within the President of FONDACA Giovanni Moro’s course, on “Theories and practices of active citizenship” at the “Roma Tre” University. The course will be devoted to the theories that describe and explain the practices that characterize active citizenship organizations, conceived as actors of the utmost importance of welfare systems, both as promoters and managers of services, and as political interlocutors of public administrations engaged in designing and implementing welfare services.
New collaboration with the organizing Committee of “Se Non Ora Quando?". FONDACA has recently activated a scientific collaboration with the organizing Committee of the civic movement "Se Non Ora Quando?", deeply committed to issues about the representation of women and their social and working conditions in Italy. This new partnership comes as part of a path of study and research that the Foundation is carrying out on the new forms of civic action implemented through the instruments connected to Web 2.0 (such as, for example, blogs, social networking photo and video sharing web sites), whose ability to influence public arena is increasing both locally and internationally. The collaboration, in this first phase, will develop into a scientific supervision that the Foundation will provide to the organizing committee of the movement for a research on the characteristics of the participants in "SNOQ", to be held throughout the country.

Publication of the new book by Giovanni Moro “La moneta della discordia”. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the euro, the book “La moneta della discordia”, written by Giovanni Moro with the collaboration of Lucia Mazzuca and Roberto Ranucci has just been published by Cooper. The text is a journey through the "hidden side" of the single European currency, constituted by the cultural, social, political and everyday life economic aspects connected to its introduction and use, which are less thematized in the political and scientific debate, where the greater part is a matter of macroeconomic and financial issues. Considering that introducing a new currency is not a transaction that concerns only governments and banks, but is rather a change that affects all citizens and creates new identities, relationships, material and immaterial values, symbols, cultural patterns and life styles, rights and powers, the book aims to deeply examine the interconnection between the euro and European citizenship, an interconnection upon which the fate of Europe, including its economic one, depends. Moreover, in the final part of the text an interview with Romano Prodi is presented. See the book’s index
The Other Side of the Coin: on-line the €-Database. The €-Database, the main output of the documentary research conducted by FONDACA between 2010 and 2011 in the framework of its program “The Other Side of the Coin. The Single Currency and European Citizenship”, and aimed at describing the world of policies and thematizations on the single currency and, in particular, on political, social and cultural factors and those of the economics of daily life connected to its introduction and use, is now available online. Through the use of this online tool, which currently gathers together about 300 publications of various kinds mainly produced by: European and national institutions, central banks, the media, consumers’ organizations, think tanks and the scientific community, the Foundation provides subjects interested in the topic with a large and diverse amount of bibliographic material for in-depth examination, study and research purposes, which could be periodically increased through the suggestion of new documents of interest by the users.
