CIVIC ACTIVISM Civil Society Index (CSI). The second edition of the Civil Society Index (CSI) project has already started. As in the previous edition, FONDACA is carrying out the scientific side of project, promoted and coordinated by the international NGO Civicus - World Alliance for Citizen Participation and carried out in Italy by Cittadinanzattiva movement. The aim of the project is the gathering of information on, and the evaluation of, the state of Italian civil society, with particular reference to the structure of civil society organizations, the external social, political, legal and economic context, the promotion and protection of values by citizens and the impact of civic organizations on Italian society. Euro-American Colloquia on Citizenship - European Session 2009. The European Session 2009 of the Euro-American Colloquia on Citizenship – VII edition will be carried out on June. FONDACA in cooperation with Pisa Sant'Anna Advanced School and the Representation in Italy of the European Commission will organize the seminar “The Single Currency and European Citizenship: an Assessment” that will be held on June 3th in Pisa. GOVERNANCE Active citizenship and local safety policies. The City Administration of Genova and FONDACA, as scientific partner, carried out the conference "Active citizenship and local safety policy" which took place on 11th March 2009 in Genova. The focus of the conference was the role of citizens organized in committees, associations etc. in local safety policies promoted by public administrations, the forms of an effective involvement of them and the problems raising from this relationship. Federalism and regional social capital. On the occasion of the publication of the book La qualità della democrazia in Italia. Capitale sociale e politica (The quality of democracy in Italy. Social capital and politics) written by Marco Almagisti, FONDACA in partnership with European Commission’s Representation office in Italy and the Circolo Cattaneo is going to carry out the seminar “Federalismo e capitale sociale regionale” (Federalism and regional social capital). The event will take place on May 13th in Rome. Further information will soon be available on the Foundation’s website.
CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP Master's Degree in Corporate Citizenship - Integrated strategies of social responsibility. FONDACA has already published the notice for admission 2009 to the Master's Degree in Corporate Citizenship 5th Edition. The course will start in June and it is devoted to individuals operating both in the private sector and in public administrations and citizen’ organizations, as well as to people engaged in research and counselling fields. The course is managed in cooperation with the Pisa Sant’Anna Advanced School and the Boston College Center for Responsible Leadership and Ethics. Tenderers may submit request to participate not later than May, 22th 2009. Read more about the Master.
The global and local aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility: experiences compared. The seminar intends to analyze the role, the possible interaction and local implementation of the EU policy on Corporate Social Responsibility and programs promoted by international institutions like the UN Global Compact and Oecd guidelines on the same field. The event will be organized by FONDACA, as focal point of the Global Compact Italian Network and it will take place on 12th June in Rome.
