CIVIC ACTIVISM

Active citizenship organizations in the official ISTAT statistics. On 9th November 2010 FONDACA participated in the workshop organized by ISTAT entitled "Censuses 2011: contents, methodologies and organizational innovations" that was held at its national headquarters in Rome. The workshop offered the opportunity to compare and discuss the theme of a better identification in the official statistics of the self-organized forms of citizens in relation to the bigger totality of the non profit organizations. This is a part of a path implemented by the Foundation in line with the growing importance of these organizations both in the public sphere and in relation to their quantitative consistency.

Civil society organizations and Web 2.0. Within the second edition of the Civil Society Index projects, FONDACA is implementing a case study on the use of the online applications of Web 2.0 by civil society organizations. The aim of the research is to verify the capability of the organizations to interact with their stakeholders through the new possibilities offered by social networks, blogs, and by on line systems like Wikipedia and Youtube that represent a great innovation in the communication modalities of the civic organizations and not only.

GOVERNANCE

Framework research on the relationship between the Euro and the European citizenship. In the framework of the research and the scientific and cultural dialogue program regarding the relationship between the Euro and European citizenship, Fondaca is carrying out a documentary research that aims to outline the universe of policies and issues on the single currency and, in particular, on those politics, cultural, social and microeconomic aspects that connect the Euro to the construction and strengthening of the European Union. This research, which follows the workshops held at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced studies in Pisa in 2009 and at Free University of Berlin last October, envisages the gathering, the analysis and the systematization of the material produced by the scientific community, the media and the institutional and non institutional actors that have taken part in the vast process of the introduction of the single currency.

The other side of the coin. In the framework of the research and dialogue path on the issue of the Euro and European citizenship, FONDACA is implementing an advanced program of initiatives and meetings entitled "The Other side of the Coin". The program is characterized by: a framework research on the issue with the aim of creating a database of the existing literature; the writing of a book containing an introduction to the theme to be published in Italy in 2011; the financing of selected scientific papers; the organization of a final workshop to be held in Frankfurt in December 2011, where the results of the program will be presented and the ten-year anniversary of the introduction of the Euro will be celebrated. Shortly, a special section dedicated to the program will be available on the Foundation web site.
